During the Council terms I have served, there have been many accomplishments and I am proud of my role in helping to make our community a better place to live.

Some of these include:

  • Completion of the transaction with BCRail Properties to obtain a block of land on the Mamquam Blind Channel for a community park.

  • Adoption of an asset management plan to provide for more efficient construction, replacement and maintenance of our infrastructure. This plan is a model for many other communities in Canada.

  • Finalization of our Official Community Plan and review of our zoning and subdivision control bylaws.

  • Successful marketing of the oceanfront lands and selection of the proponent.

  • Undertaking improvements to our land fill and implementation of a successful recycling and waste diversion strategy.

  • Adoption of a continuing program to update and replace our water infrastructure where necessary.

  • Improvement of our flood protection infrastructure, including pump facilities and dykes and completion of an integrated flood management plan.

  • Upgrading all of our neighbourhood parks and Stan Clarke Park.

  • Approval and support for the Sea to Sky Gondola.

  • Adoption of an economic development strategy and business retention strategy to improve the economic growth of our community.

  • Addition of an all-weather playing field and upgrades to Brennan Park facilities.

This is not intended to be a complete list of things that have helped our community move forward but rather an indication of the many advances we have been able to make over the past ten years I have served on Council.
